Free swimming sessions at the Dolphin for over 60s

Cllr Graham Mason, the Mayor of Poole will be taking the plunge to launch free swimming sessions for the over 60s at the Dolphin Swimming Pool next week.

Free to anyone over the age of 60 resident in Poole, the free sessions are currently available at the Kemp Welch Leisure Centre.

The Mayor and a group of over 60s from the Poole area will be having a swim to celebrate the arrival of the "silver swimmers" at the Dolphin swimming pool, funded by Poole Primary Care Trust. In order to participate potential ‘team members’ should pick up a free ‘Silver Sports’ card available at every swimming session, currently being distributed at the Kemp Welch Leisure Centre. The pass also entitles members to free entry to Tea Dances at Hamworthy Liberal Club every Tuesday from 2 -4pm.

Mayor of Poole, Cllr Graham Mason said: "The scheme has been a huge success and expansion continues two great opportunities for Poole, not only can the "Silver Sports" men and women stay fit, active and healthy but they can also raise money for charity at the same time."

Cllr Charles Meachin, Old People’s Champion for Poole said: "I am delighted with this further initiative towards implementing the National Service Framework for older people, particularly Standard 8, the promotion of health and active life in older age."

The centre runs a number of different activities not just "Silver Sports."

Times and venues of free sessions:

Dolphin Swimming Pool Thursday 10:30 - 11:30

Kemp Welch Leisure Centre, Monday 10:00 - 11:00 & Thursday 09:00 - 10:00
