Art Comes to Mitchell House

Canford Heath Arts Society (CHAS) visited Mitchell House Residential Centre to display paintings that they kindly loaned to the centre in April as part of a new Outside-In scheme.

The Outside-In initiative was developed during discussions within Social Services about ways of bringing art into the centre.

Mel Bennett, Arts Programme Manager, Social Services, said: "Art has many functions and it is hoped, in this case, that the paintings will stimulate conversation and reminiscence for the residents at Mitchell House.

"CHAS have been enthusiastic and supportive throughout and have brought some beautiful and colourful paintings to the walls of Mitchell House."

The paintings will be replaced on a regular basis and depict familiar things such as animals and landscapes that the elderly residents will recognise.
