1 Mar 07Success For Poole's Pupils At Key Stage 3
Young people in Poole schools have once again performed well above the national average in Key Stage 3
tests.
Results for 2006, published by the Department for Education and Skills
, show the progress made by 14-year-olds taking the national tests in English, mathematics and science at Poole schools.
In English, 78 per cent of pupils in Poole gained at least Level 5 standard - the expected level for the age group - five per cent above the national average. The percentage of pupils achieving the higher standard of Level 6 was nine per cent higher than the average for England.
Results in mathematics revealed that 83 per cent of young people achieved the Level 5 benchmark - six per cent above the national average - with 67 per cent attaining Level 6, 10 per cent above the national average.
In science, 81 per cent of pupils achieved Level 5 - nine per cent higher than the national average - with 54 per cent gaining Level 6, 13 per cent above the average for England.
The aggregate for test percentages for Poole at Level 5 and above in 2006 was 241, compared to a national aggregate of 222. Poole has consistently performed above the national average at Key Stage 3 tests since 2003.
