Opening of the Packe Family Mausoleum

The Packe Family Mausoleum will be welcoming the public through its doors for the first time this year on Saturday 24 April.

The Mausoleum, built in 1867, is the last remaining evidence that the Packe family owned most of what is now Branksome Park in the mid 19th century.

Richard Knott, Conservation Officer, Borough of Poole, said: "This small, stone chapel-like building was hidden behind trees and dense vegetation until 1993 when the Borough of Poole took over the building and restored it to its current condition. The opening will take place in the late morning, there is no need to book, simply come along and have a look at either 11.00am, 11.45am or 12.30pm."

There will also be other opportunities to visit the Mausoleum during dates in June and September this year.

The Packe Mausoleum stands at the top of the road to Branksome Dene Chine car park, just to the rear of 25 Pinewood Road.
