Poole's First Community Warden

A new face in the community will be joining the fight against crime in Poole.

The Borough of Poole has recently appointed the first Community Warden,  who will be responsible for tackling and reducing criminal damage. Robin Morgan will focus on "hotspot areas"  throughout the Borough, as identified by residents, the Police or other agencies who work within the Borough.

Working closely with the Police link will open in new window, especially locally based officers, Robin aims  to build on close working relationships with other agencies and council services to develop strategies and a multi-agency response to on-going problems. Robin said: "This is not an enforcement role, but an opportunity to develop links with Poole's communities in order to help co-ordinate a joint response and to enable the community to address some of the problems of anti-social behaviour which can lead to criminal damage".

The new role is street-based and will involve regular patrols to provide a high visibility presence and point of contact within the community.

Robin has had experience of working with young people and the elderly and is keen to be involved in all aspects of the local community. Cllr Bill Wretham, Portfolio Holder for Housing and Social Inclusion, said:  "This new post is an exciting addition to our Community Safety Team, providing a  valuable front line presence on our streets. I am certain this will be a great asset to those communities in Poole which suffer from problems associated with criminal damage."
