12 Jul 06Healthy School Day at Carter Community College
Students at Carter Community Sports College
will be spending the entire day on Thursday 13 July 2006 talking, eating and drinking ‘Healthy Schools’.
The initiative, sponsored by the Co-Operative Group
by way of a £250.00 donation towards purchasing fair trade items and cooking ingredients, offers the opportunity to highlight healthy living.
The school recently joined the ‘Chefs Adopt A School’ and will be joined on the day by chefs, Sarah Howard and Michael Coaker.
“Chefs Adopt A School” scheme is run by the prestigious Academy of Culinary Arts
, whose members are leading professionals in the culinary world. The scheme encourages top chefs from all over the UK to get involved in bringing food education into schools, and endorses the Government’s policy in respect of healthier schools.
Other aspects of the day include ‘Supersize Me’, the well publicised film, evaluating the effect of diet on length of life, cooking healthly pizzas, creating non-alcoholic cocktails, negotiation skills and tackling assault courses.
