The Big Tidy Up Needs You

People in Poole can sign up to support the biggest litter pick in history as part of the nationwide 'Big Tidy Up' campaign.

Borough of Poole has pledged its support to the Big Tidy Up link will open in new window, which was launched by Keep Britain Tidy on Monday 1 September.

Anyone can join in and organise a litter pick event for the Big Tidy Up from schools, businesses and groups to individuals. If you are getting involved with the Keep Britain Tidy campaign to reach the 500,000 bags of rubbish target then Poole wants to provide you with the equipment to support your litter picking event.

Borough of Poole's Environmental and Consumer Protection Services (E&CPS) are able to provide volunteers who organise litter picks with gloves, litter pickers and bags. E&CPS can also arrange to collect the waste after the litter pick has taken place providing this has taken place on council land.

Over the next month The Big Tidy Up nationwide campaign will see thousands of litter picks taking place across the length and breadth of the country. There will be a number of litter picks taking place across Poole during the campaign, however there is still time to sign up and join in the month-long blitz on litter.

Cllr Don Collier, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "It is great to be part of such a big national campaign. The Big Tidy Up is a perfect opportunity to bring the community together to tackle the issue of litter. Keeping Poole clean, green and safe is a priority, therefore, we welcome campaigns like Keep Britain Tidy to the area to ensure that Poole is a pleasant place for residents and visitors to enjoy."

Phil Barton, Keep Britain Tidy chief executive said: "The Big Tidy Up will be the biggest organised litter pick this country has ever seen. Thousands of schools, businesses and community groups have already signed up and want to make a difference."
