Half Term Fun at Poole Museum

Beat the boredom this May half term and come along to Poole Museum for a host of fun activities celebrating Poole's natural habitats and medieval mayhem.

Children aged from four to 11 are encouraged to get creative and make their very own monsters of the deep, medieval head-dresses or prepare for battle by designing and making their own jousting battle shield. A list of events held each day can be found at the bottom of the page.

The arts based activities cost £2 per one hour session and will run from Tuesday 27 May to Saturday 31 May between 10.30am and 4pm.

Michael Spender, Museum Manager, Borough of Poole said: "Half term can be an expensive time for parents but this is an ideal opportunity for children to learn more about Poole's habitat and history in a fun and creative way that won't break the bank."

Advance booking is recommended, as spaces are limited to 30 children at each hour-long session. Please call 01202 262600 to book your child a place or to find out more about half term activities at the museum. Alternatively, you can buy tickets from the reception at Poole Museum when available.

All activities run from 10:30am to 4pm. A one-hour session costs £2 per child and advance booking is recommended.

Egrets, curlews, mergansers and herons are just a few of the birds that can be seen in and around Poole Harbour. Make a mobile or sculpt a clay bird to take home.

Wednesday 28^th May - Welcome to Poole

A chance to create your very own beach hut or make a coat of arms out of clay.

Thursday 29^th May - Fabulous Fish

Learn about Oysters, Lobsters and Red Mullet and then enjoy designing your own monster of the deep.

Friday 30^th May - Medieval Mayhem

Create your own ceramic gargoyles - the uglier, the better! Or be inspired by medieval stained glass and paint a beautiful tile to take home.

Saturday 31^st May - Jolly Jousters!

Enjoy a right royal tournament by customising and making your own battle shield or design and create a beautiful headdress.
