People in Poole and Bournemouth are being given a new platform to have their say on health and social care services.
From April 1, Local Involvement Networks (LINks) are being introduced to give local people better opportunities to help improve local health and social care services in the two boroughs.
LINks will be a network of people, organisations and groups, independent of local councils and NHS healthcare trusts.
Anyone with an interest in the care of local residents can get involved in LINks, which should represent a cross section of the community.
LINks will find out people's experiences of health and social care services and recommend how to improve services locally.
Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Portfolio Holder for Well-being, Borough of Poole, said: "The introduction of LINks represents a significant change in the way people can directly help shape the services they receive. It's a move we welcome and hope people will take advantage of the opportunity to get involved."
Cllr Barry Goldbart, Portfolio Holder for Adult Services, Bournemouth Borough Council
, said: "We hope as many people and organisations as possible express an interest in joining this exciting new venture. LINks will offer a new vehicle for people, from all walks of life, to play their part in future health and social services for everyone."
Leaflets offering more information on LINks are now available from GP surgeries, hospital receptions, libraries, council offices and day centres. Information is also available at www.boroughofpoole.com/carenetworks or by contacting Local Information Networks on 01202 458781.
