11 Dec 07Join Our Christmas Tree Party!
With Christmas trees springing up all over the Borough, residents are invited to a free Christmas Tree Party on Saturday 15 December.
The party will take place at Hamworthy Library at 10am, where children and adults will be invited to take part in Christmas tree related games, puzzles, quizzes and crafts, including creating their own Christmas tree. 'Woodland' refreshments will also be provided.
People are encouraged to bring along their own leaves, seeds and cones to be identified by experts on the day. Tree planting handouts and seeds will also be provided for people to plant their own trees of the future.
There will also be a chance to find out about Dorset Wildlife Trust's Dorset Greenwood Tree Project
, which celebrates Dorset's veteran trees.
Cllr Peter Adams, Portfolio Holder for the Environment, said: "With Christmas around the corner this is a great opportunity for residents to think about the tradition of the Christmas tree and find out about trees that exist in Poole's beautiful open spaces."
The Christmas Tree Party follows a successful tree party held at Poole Central Library last month. Both parties have been organised by Poole Libraries in support of the BBC's Breathing Places Campaign
to raise awareness of the environment, nature and wildlife.
Places for the Tree Party can be booked at Hamworthy Library front desk or on tel: 01202 672750.
