POOLE LAUNCHES NEW VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE TOWN

Poole is believed to be one of the first UK tourist offices to develop an interactive virtual tour (Virtual Poole) of the town within its award winning tourism website (www.pooletourism.com). This new exciting tour uses state of the art technology enabling viewers to see, explore and experience the beauty and quality of the harbour, beaches, parks, town centre and quayside before visiting.

360 degree photographs have been taken at 24 locations around the town giving panoramic views at the click of a button. Adjacent to the panoramic view is an aerial picture of the town highlighting where each photograph has been taken. People using the tour can move around the town by either clicking on the hot links within the photograph or by selecting a destination from the aerial picture.

Further developments of the tour will include hot links to hotel and other tourist attraction websites within the town.

The new tour was launched at the annual gathering of Poole's tourism businesses this week and Chairman of the Tourism Panel, Bruce Grant-Braham, stated "this new development further emphasises the commitment given by the Town's Tourism Office to take full advantage of modern technology in the promotion of the town".
