Poole Steps In To Help Shoppers

Following the temporary closure of Castlepoint Shopping Centre, Borough of Poole Transportation Serrvices officers have been working closely with Helen Crawford, Town Centre Manager and Steve Connolly, Manager of the Dolphin Shopping Centre, to look at how Poole can support shoppers at this busy time. 

A range of measures have been introduced to free-up parking near the Dolphin Shopping Centre including relocating some permit holders to the Quay Visitors car park and making better use of the Park & Share facility at Creekmoor.

At last Thursday's Transportation Advisory Group, Councillors agreed to provide free parking between 6pm and 9pm at town centre car parks in the run-up to Christmas. These special arrangements will apply Monday to Saturday from 12 December and complements the extended shopping hours which have also been arranged this week.

Cllr Ron Parker, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Local Economy including Transportation, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole is a fantastic place to shop and at this busy time of year I am glad that we have been able to provide support to shoppers who have been affected by the unfortunate situation at Castlepoint."
