Christmas Dinner at Poole Hospital's Children's Ward to Have Extra Taste This Year!

An early Christmas present of specially designed children's crockery is to be made to Poole Hospital's Children's ward this Saturday (22 December).

A major fund raising exercise by the restaurants who organised TASTE 2001 - Poole's festival of food sponsored by Prowting Homes - raised in excess of £4,000 for this worthy cause and this has now enabled 800 pieces of local Poole Pottery to be purchased for the children. The plates, bowls and mugs are a unique nursery set created by local designer Anita Harris and feature various children's characters and figures that are aimed at making eating more fun.

Sharon French of Poole Hospital, said: "We work hard to ensure all meals are nourishing, attractive and appealing to the children. To be able to present the food on plates and dishes specifically designed for children will help greatly in getting some of the children to eat. Being Christmas also makes it that little more special."

Jane Tyler, Chairman of TASTE, added: "All of the restaurants involved are proud to be able to bring a little cheer to the children who have to spend time in hospital and it is especially nice to be able to do it in time for Christmas dinner. Our first TASTE event was a tremendous success and to meet our aim of supplying the Hospital with this unique nursery set makes it even more pleasing. A big thank you has to go to all of the participating restaurants, our sponsors and to our customers who gave so generously."

The presentation will be made on the Children's Ward at the hospital at 10.30am to Sharon French by the chefs of TASTE 2001 and the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker. This follows a journey to the hospital on the Road Train from the Custom House on Poole Quay where the nursery set will be collected at 10.15am.
