Fun For All In Poole

Borough of Poole is hosting a number of fun-packed days for all the family this August.

Poole Fun Days logo 2The Fundays, which are sponsored by The Big Lottery link will open in new window, offer the chance for local communities to take part in sports, play and environmental activities as well as arts and crafts free of charge.

DJ workshops and kite making are just some of the urban-themed activities that will take place during the National Play Day link will open in new window at Baiter Park on Wednesday 6 August. Other attractions include BMX riding, environmental activities, face painting and arts and crafts.

Cllr Peter Adams, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Borough of Poole, said: "The Fundays we have previously held have been hugely successful and they provide a great day out for all ages. This is a wonderful example of how valuable initiatives are being delivered to the local community across the Borough. This demonstrates once again our commitment to building stronger and lasting communities."

Play Rangers, a new project funded by The Big Lottery, will also be launched at the event by Barnardos link will open in new window. During the summer the Play Rangers will be running a variety of activities such as den-building and water play at parks and open spaces across the borough, and will be running sessions after school from September.

Cllr Tony Woodcock, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Supporting Children and Young People, Borough of Poole, said: "The new Play Rangers service is an exciting development which will provide children with more play opportunities and supports the Bournemouth and Poole Play Strategy. We hope that this new initiative will prove to be a popular service with children and young people and they enjoy the events held throughout the year."

Similar Funday activities will take place at Branksome Rec on Wednesday 20 August.

Fundays are open to everyone with a range of activities to suit all ages from toddlers to young people and run between 11am and 3pm.
