Whitecliff Recreation Ground
Work has started on a project to completely refurbish the much-loved and well-used play park at Whitecliff Recreation Ground. The existing equipment is slowly but surely failing with two major pieces recently removed - although we did install a very popular 'Buddy Swing' in place of the old tyre swing, in time for last summer's visitors.
The project has an allocated budget in excess of £180,000. In December 2007 Tenders were received from six play equipment suppliers, the contract has been awarded and the final unique and exciting design has been fine-tuned. Planning Permission was granted on 20th May 2008, but earlier complications with the application resulted in a delay which means it is now impossible to complete this project before the start of the school summer holidays. It goes against Leisure Services policy to close a popular play area during a holiday period, so the existing equipment will remain until at least September.
Updates will be posted here so please revisit.
