Playground And Skate Park Maintenance
The maintenance of playgrounds and skate parks is the responsibility of the site contractor. There are currently around 40 such facilities across the borough. None of the Borough's play facilities has site attendants.
The contractor is responsible for:
- Inspecting every site (target by 10.00 a.m.) daily, 365 days a year
- Cleaning playgrounds as required
- Providing qualified staff for inspection and repair
- Removing graffiti
- Replacing parts such as chains, swing seats, nuts and bolts, etc as required
- Adjusting gates and catches
- Arranging an annual independent safety audit of each site
- Undertaking minor repairs to safety surfacing (but not the total replacement of safety surfacing)
- Painting skate ramps (paint provided by Leisure Services)
- Paint equipment where agreed with Leisure Services
- Responding to emergencies and making the site safe
Leisure Services is responsible for:
- Arranging the repair and replacement of major equipment parts
- Determining the location of playgrounds and skate parks
- Arranging any necessary resurfacing
- Provision of site information boards and notices
- Agreeing a painting programme with the site contractor
