Whitecliff Recreation Ground Play Area is the largest play area in Poole and was completely refurbished and re-opened on 13th May 2009 . The fenced play area lies within a large recreation ground which borders the harbour and includes a sports pavilion, car parking, sports pitches and a fitness trail.
The equipment in this themed play area is unique and benefits from a large helicopter play unit with a double slide and a large tower unit (the largest in Poole) with a number of differing access options and slides. The equipment offers a wide range of role play options allowing children to let their imagination run from being a helicopter pilot to a ships captain.
A large sand pit with a climbing frame, play boat and sand diggers is also a feature of this play area.
A buddy swing, picnic tables and seating has also been provided in this destination play area suitable for children between the ages of 3 to 14.
The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.
The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.
Cycle stands are available close to the play area gates. Public toilets are available in the pavilion close to the main car park, where further on street car parking is also available close to the play area. A mobile catering van located in the main car park is open most days.
We encourage the use of all our facilities by everyone. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we could improve this facility for you.
