As part of this areas rejuvenation a range of new play equipment offers challenging play and excitement for children between the ages of 3 to 18+.
It includes climbing equipment, cradle swings for toddlers and a buddy swing supplied by Huck, a fire engine and home rescue climbing frame both items to encourage interactivity and role play, a multi-person raft springer all supplied by Kompan. We also installed a wheelchair friendly Orbit roundabout .and a buddy swing and zip wire supplied by Playdale for older children.
A mini multi-use games area (Muga) including a ball court with basketball hoops added to the park improvements and the age range of users.
As part of the works to the area substantial landscaping works including a full path network makes this play area accessible to all users. Seating and picnic tables have been provided around the park to enable families to enjoy the area while their children play.
The new play area was opened by the Mayor Councillor Charles Meachin on Friday 16th April 2010.
The play equipment in this play area was manufactured and installed to comply with current safety standards applying at the time of installation and all items of equipment are provided with a safer surface where required.
The play equipment and the immediate surrounding areas are inspected on a regular basis. An annual inspection is also carried out by an independent qualified organisation that prepares a safety audit and a report to enable the Council to plan long term maintenance and renewal.
The site is accessable from either Darby's Lane or Wimborne Road, with some limited parking in Darby's Lane.
