Sheltered Housing
Sheltered Housing is also known as retirement housing and is purpose built accommodation for people over 60 years of age. There are many different types of sheltered housing schemes most of the schemes available to rent is Poole are provided by Poole Housing Partnership
or local Housing Associations.
Allocation of these properties is usually through the Council's Housing Register and HomeChoice scheme. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for this type of housing please contact Housing Advice 01202 633804 or email.
Poole Housing Partnership
manage 31 sheltered schemes on behalf of Borough of Poole. The location of all of these schemes can be found on the right hand side of this page. The majority of sheltered schemes have a communal lounge and kitchen and many provide a guest room and laundry facilities.
The unfurnished flats and bungalows provide independnat living in a safe, secure, communal environment with the support of a Sheltered Housing Officer.
All properties have an intercom system linked directly to a Sheltered Housing Officer or Control Centre, who can be contacted in an emergency, 24 hours a day. The most important part of the intercom system is the optional pendant, which acts as the radio trigger. This can be worn around the neck or wrist and when pressed, will set off the alarm anywhere in your home. In addition, all properties have a smoke detector connected to the intercom that alerts the staff, when activated.
Poole Housing Partnership sheltered schemes has a dedicated gardening team, surveyor and handyperson service, providing an enhanced housing service specifically for their sheltered housing tenants. They also offer a garden maintenance and decorating scheme for residents who are unable to carry out such work themselves and have no one else who could do the work.
