General Needs Properties

Refusal Policy:

  • For anyone applying for housing that is not sheltered, if 2 properties are refused in a 12 month period and those properties would have been suitable for their needs, their application may be suspended for a year.
  • Applicants that have been awarded priority are deemed to have an urgent need to move, so that priority will be withdrawn if 2 suitable offers are refused with the priority time.
  • Homeless applicants will be made only one offer of permanent accommodation. If they wish to refuse that offer, they should contact their housing advisor to discuss this.

Please only bid for properties where your household size fits the eligibility criteria in the advert. Exceptions to this on medical, welfare and those under occupying can be made, requests should be submitted to the Housing Needs Team in writing.

Properties with Gardens will generally not be offered to people who only have children aged over 14 years unless medical or social requirement for a garden exists.

All properties are let unfurnished.

We ask that applicants respect the privacy of the families living in those properties by not approaching them to request private viewings. Anyone who is found to be approaching occupier of properties advertise through HomeChoice will have their application suspended for 6 months
