Check out your housing options
The Council does not have enough properties for everyone who applies through the housing register. Properties are in short supply and demand is very high. People are encouraged to join the housing register but need to be aware that they may have to wait a long time to be considered for rehousing depending on their circumstances.
- To help those in housing need on our Housing Register we have developed a housing advice package that gives information and advice on a range of housing options.
- You can rent privately with advice about good landlords and possibly a loan for the rent in advance and deposit.
- You may be able to purchase a property with help from one of the low cost home ownership schemes
- You may want to move out of the area and we can find you a home and possibly pay your removal costs.
- We can give you Information about your rights to remain in your home if you are threatened with eviction or if you are a victim of domestic violence.
- In addition we could help you if you are in debt, have rent or mortgage arrears or just need help in managing your finances.
- You may also be entitled to some benefits to assist you. Please feel free to use our online benefit calculator to check your entitlement.
We work with a number of partners who can help you. Just give us a quick call or ring for an appointment to discuss your problems in more detail.
