Anti-Social Behaviour Task Group
The Anti-Social Behaviour Task Group brings together representatives from a number of housing associations, Youth Services, the Youth Offending Team, Environmental and Consumer Protection, a representative of Poole Youth Forum, and a variety of other agencies. The group is chaired by Simon Hendey, Head of Housing and Community Services at the Borough of Poole.
In its action plan for 2007/08, the task group has committed to the following:
- Establish the Poole Respect Awards, to recognise community work tackling anti-social behaviour
- Fund the "Blitz" project in Poole schools, tackling underage drinking and associated anti-social behaviour
- To continue to expand the Youth Mobile Unit, for targeted youth provision
- To use enforcement measures such as Anti-Social Behaviour Orders and injunctions as a last resort to prevent anti-social behaviour and protect communities
Messages from the Anti-Social Behaviour Task Group
Are you a victim of anti-social behaviour?
If you are experiencing problems of anti-social behaviour, such as verbal abuse and threats, vandalism and graffiti, we may be able to help.
Act Up to anti-social behaviour in Poole
Poole and Bournemouth are running anti-social behaviour awareness sessions at Streetwise. The Act Up project will engage young people aged 12 to 18 in various real life scenarios of anti-social behaviour and educating them on the effects of anti-social behaviour in the community. Restorative justice practices will encourage empathy with all members of society and during post-scenario discussions, young people will be encouraged to make direct reparation to their victims. This can take the form of a letter of apology, a restorative justice conference, or direct work for the victim. For more information contact Ian Cooke on 633516.
Focus Football
Poole Safe Together Partnership are currently running football focus, an initiative engaging young people and the police to undertake football training. It offers young people the opportunity to take part in regular local tournaments. For more information please contact Ian Cooke on 633516.
