Grants For Non-Profit Organisations
Eligibility Criteria for the Award of Grants by the Borough of Poole
One group of organisations that we consider key in delivering our Vision and Priorities are those charities or 'not for profit' bodies that exist to promote the well being of the town. Some of these bodies have existed for many years and have a proven track record; others are relatively new and have developed in response to local need. Whichever is the case we recognise that they may better meet the needs of local people than direct council services and we would wish to support them, within the limitations of our resources, to continue their good work.
Who can apply:
- New and existing constituted Voluntary and Community Organisations
We will, therefore, consider offering grant aid to those bodies which meet the following criteria:
- The services, facilities or activities provided are in line with the council's vision and priorities in Poole's Corporate Strategy as outlined above.
- The services, facilities or activities for which a grant is sought are wholly or mainly benefiting the residents of Poole.
- There is a need in Poole for the specific services, facilities or activities provided by the organisation.
- The organisation is a registered charity or a 'not for profit' organisation.
- The organisation has financial need which will be assisted by the grant sought and without which the services, facilities or activities could not be provided.
- Other sources of funding have been fully investigated, and where possible, secured.
- The organisation actively encourages disadvantaged groups in the community to make use of the services, facilities or activities provided.
- The organisation agrees to the use of quality assurance procedures to monitor and evaluate the service provided.
We will not grant aid to:
- Individuals
- Activities promoting political or religious beliefs
We will need to see:
- An independently examined annual statement of accounts and a forecast sheet for the coming financial year.
- A copy of the organisation's Constitution and details of its management committee structure.
- An Equal Opportunities Policy.
Please note:
- In exceptional circumstances we may award a grant outside the criteria indicated above.
- Because of our financial limitations it cannot be guaranteed that all applications meeting the criteria will receive the grants sought.
Timescales / Deadlines:
Completed applications have to be received by Noon, Friday 29th November 2007. All applicants will be contacted in early March 2008 (unless further information is requested)
