Turlin Moor lies to the west of Blandford Road, north of Turlin Road and access can be via: the rear of houses at South Haven Close; the entrance at the end of Foreland Road, service road leading from the Blandford Road or from the footpath / pavement at Border Road.
Turlin Moor is essentially a coastal habitat with elements of saltmarsh, reed bed, dry scrub and grassland adjoining formal sports/ recreation fields. It is of significant wildlife interest, linked with Poole Harbour - which is recognized as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), designated as a Wetland of International Importance under the 1971 Ramsar convention, and a Special Protection Area for wild birds under European Community Directive 79/409.
As public open space, Turlin Moor is primarily used for informal recreation such as dog walking, bird-watching, fishing and boat-mooring (South Haven Close).
