Temporary And Occasional Events
Small events where no more than 499 people are likely to attend, and which will last for less than 96 hours will require a temporary event notice if you intend to supply alcohol or have regulated entertainment.
The same premises cannot be used more than 12 times in a calendar year, subject to a maximum of 15 days.
Licensed Premises can give a Temporary Event Notice to the Council in respect of any event which falls outside the activites or hours permitted by their Premises Licence.
A personal licence holder is able to hold up to 50 temporary events a year, whilst any person over the age of 18 is able to hold 5 temporary events a year without the need to apply for a personal licence. For more information please visit the Department for Culture Media and Sport website
.
A Temporary Event Notice must be given to the Council, in duplicate, at least 10 working days before an event of this sort can be held, and a copy of the notice must also be given to the police who may object to it on crime and disorder grounds. There is a fee payable.
