Hazardous Waste
We give high priority to protect the safety of the community and the cleanliness of Poole and take the problem of Hazardous Waste very seriously.
What is Hazardous Waste?
Hazardous waste includes anything that could be harmful to human health or the environment. Examples of hazardous waste likely to come from households include:
- Car batteries
- Engine oil
- Garden chemicals - weed killers
- Gas bottles
- Asbestos
- Fluorescent tubes
- TV's
- Paint
Paint itself is not a hazardous household waste but should be handed to the site operator. The above list is not definitive and if you have any particular concerns about a type of waste you can contact the Environment Agency
.
Where can householders dispose of hazardous waste?
Poole's Household Waste Recycling Centre, Nuffield Road will accept the above items provided they are from householders - not commercial/business waste.
When disposing of any of the above please take due care; hand the item/substance to a site operative and follow any relevant instructions.
DO NOT put these items or any uncertain items/substances directly into the waste bays.
