To meet the Award criteria, schools will need to promote a positive attitude towards the environment and cleanliness. The approach illustrated in the Award will result in improvements in cleanliness and anti-social behaviour in the school and surrounding environment for years to come.
The Award will raise the issues of being a good citizen, help children identify dangers of litter to themselves, to wildlife, and the environment.

There are a number of other ways schools can get involved with protecting Poole's environment and reducing our carbon footprint:
The Borough of Poole offers all schools a free blue recycling bin for every refuse bin that they pay for with Poole Commercial Waste Service.
A waste management officer can visit your school to give for an assembly presentation or class activity on recycling and waste minimisation.
Borough of Poole can provide schools with advice on composting in school, and where to obtain compost bins.
If you would like to do a litter pick in or around your school, we can provide bags, litter pickers, tabards and gloves.
To find out more about any of the above please contact us.
Poole's outdoor education activities can be held at your local Greenspace or at Upton Country Park. The activities provide cross-curricular learning and fun opportunities for children of school age. As well as developing an understanding of their local environment the activities allow them to get up-close to the plants and animals.
