The White Wall

The White Wall is an exhibition space for visual art situated in Poole Central Library. It aims to reflect the work of the growing artistic community in Poole.

white wallThe White Wall is used for a range of art exhibitions, but work of quality by local artists is central to the range of work displayed. In order that this can be achieved, Poole’s Arts Development Unit and trained library staff manage the space. Where the space is being shared by a group of artists, it is hoped that some internal selection process takes place before the work is submitted for exhibition.

The space is 4.5 metres long and 3 metres high with its own lighting, and is situated next to Healthpoint at the far end of the lower floor of the library. Staff will oversee both the space and the purchase of work. This is however a public area, so security cannot be guaranteed. Because of this, insurance of £2,000 in total has been arranged.

How to book the White Wall

If you are interested in exhibiting in the space, either as an individual or as part of a group, please contact our administrative staff on 01202 262403 for more information and an application form. Alternatively, download the form and return it to Poole Central Library, enclosing some samples from your portfolio.

We look forward to seeing your work and to making the White Wall an important addition to the ever-expanding cultural landscape of Poole.

Other libraries

Most branch libraries do not have space to display visual art. Canford Heath library does have some space (and holds an exhibition by the local art society every November). Contact the library for more details.
