Library Services to Older Users
Older and Bolder!
Re-discover your Library - there's more in it than you think.
You may not have been into your local library for a while, so why not come and visit us again? - we think you'll like what you see. We have ten libraries and a mobile library in Poole, so there's bound to be one near you. The mobile library also visits sheltered housing.

More time for reading? We have over 147,000 books that you can borrow or use in the library. As well as the usual fiction and non-fiction, we have books in large print and audio books on cassette or CD.
Looking for a new read? Try some of our recommended websites, then check our catalogue
to see if we have it in stock. If you can't find what you want on the shelves, request it. If you like to talk about what you have read, why not join a reading group?
New hobby? For information on interests, hobbies and everyday practicalities from pensions to parties, and holidays to housing, come into your library and ask the staff, or visit the CyberLibrary
or our other online resources. You can do this from your computer at home. You just need to input your library card number when asked - ask any member of library staff for details.
Perhaps you're going to start tracing your family tree? We've got lots of resources to help you. Come to any library to access the Ancestry website: it gives you access to all the UK censuses from 1841 to 1901, to births, marriages and deaths records, plus a wealth of other information from around the world.
Looking after the grandchildren? Come to Babybounce at Broadstone Library - it's especially for grandparents and under 2s.
All libraries have computers which are free to use - you can access the internet, send emails, or do your word processing. To get you started, we have regular free computer taster sessions - ring 01202 262424 for details.
Want to meet some other people? Some libraries have regular coffee mornings, and Poole Central Library has a regular adult storytime. Join us for a coffee and biscuit and listen to a story.
Time to spare? Find out about being a library volunteer. We have lots of opportunities for you to help others make the most of their library.
And finally, for inspiration, entertainment and relaxation, look at our great collections of DVDs and music CDs.
