Community Wise Database
The Community Wise database is a collaboration between the Healthpoint and the Borough of Poole to collect information about the numerous leisure/social/hobby clubs and societies, church groups and support groups across the county of Dorset. We currently have over 700 local and national organisations listed, but are always looking for more - especially local.
Do you attend or help organise any of the following types of activities…?
- Regular lunch clubs or coffee mornings
- Pop-ins/Drop-ins or other general social groups
- Sport/exercise
- Art & craft/photography
- Reading group/writers circle
Would you like more people to know about your group? Would you welcome new members? Does the group need more helpers?
If you would like your group/club included on the database then please fill in and return our application form (see the link on the right of the page), or pass to your Club Secretary.
A bit about the aims of Community Wise
- To gather together information for the general public and health and social care professionals about the range of community and social care related services in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors.
- To increase access to, and awareness of, these facilities with the permission of the individual groups and organisations involved.
- To provide people living within the Borough of Poole with information about local helping services, enabling them to make use of community-based services that already exist but may be unknown to them.
- Include national grant-making organisations; head offices of charities; specialist helplines where appropriate or no local helping organisation exists.
The details we include on the database are:
- Name of the activity/group
- Day/time/venue of meetings
- Contact details
- Disabled access information about the venue
- Any membership restrictions/fees/regular charges
- If a referral is required from a professional worker
- Permission to make details available via the Internet
Personal addresses will be hidden as requested and will be used only by the Database Administrator for validating the information held. The database is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
