Three and Four Year Old Funding Reform - Childcare Provider Information
Early Years Funding Reform
Funding for the free entitlement for three and four year olds is going to be reformed over the next two years.
In line with the Government's Ten Year Childcare Strategy
, from September 2010, all children will be entitled, from the term after their third birthday, to 15 hours flexible childcare for 38 weeks per year. Parents can choose the provision that suits their needs, either a pre-school, day nursery or childminder.
To prepare for this changes in Poole we have:
- Developed an Early Years Funding Sub-Group to the Schools Forum to consider the funding issue regarding all sectors in the Early Years free entitlement.
- Two Early Years Representatives on the Schools Forum.
- Established a consultation network for each type of provider (pre-school, day nursery, and the exsiting childminding network).
- Analysed the cost of providing the free entitlement in Poole.
The data will be used by the Early Years Funding Sub-Group to develop a formula. The formula will enable the Borough to use the existing budget to fund childcare provisions effectively to offer good quality nursery places to all children in Poole. The formula will be effective in 2010.
As Early Years Providers, you will be consulted about the method of funding we provide through a newly formed 'Early years Funding Sub Group to the Schools Forum'.
More information will be available as the reform develops. Alternatively, you can contact us for further details.
