Childminders
Childminders are self employed carers registered to look after one or more child, under the age of 8, in their own home, for rewards, and for a total of more than 2 hours in any day.
Network Childminders are managed by a Co-ordinator and provide Quality Assured childcare to set standards in line with the National Childminding Association (NCMA) Quality Charter.
Day Nurseries
Day Nurseries offer care, play and education for the under 5s, from part time places to full daycare.
Pre-Schools
Pre-schools and playgroups offer care, play and education sessions for children from 2 to 5 years old. They may only offer sessional care.
Out of School Clubs and Holiday Care
These clubs offer care, play and activities for chidren aged 4-14 years before and after school hours, and during school holidays. May not require registration, if providing only for children from 8 years old.
Parent & Toddler Groups
Parent and Toddler Groups are a social group for parents and children to attend. They are not registered and do not provide childcare. A list of Poole groups is available by contacting the Childrens Information Service (CIS).
Neighbourhood Nurseries
Are privately run Day Nurseries which have been set up in disadvantaged areas with the aid of government funding and offer full daycare for 0-5 year old children.
