Befriending - MIND
The MIND
befriending service supports those with serious and/or enduring mental health illness in Poole and Bournemouth by offering a befriending relationship with a MIND volunteer, who is prepared to listen, while at the same time, respecting your complete freedom.
The service aims to give you
- give you an enhanced quality of life, reducing social isolation and improving your ability to overcome difficulties
- provide a friendship; social support if you live in the communtiy
- assist those of you who are unable to use services or the wider community, due to lack of confidence and/or low self-esteem
- enable you to reach your own goals
- provide listening and support, helping you to increase your independence.
All volunteers undergo induction training and are provided with ongoing training and support by the service co-ordinator. Volunteers are asked to provide a commitment of about 2 hours once a fortnight.
Who can use the service
Clients of a Community Mental Health Team who live in Poole, Bournemouth or East Dorset council areas.
