Support Time and Recovery (STR) Workers

A successful recovery from mental illness is achievable. Working with your Support Time and Recovery (STR) worker you will be helped to achieve what you want to do, both in your home and in the community. Coming from different walks of life and backgrounds, STR workers include volunteers and existing and former service users who will work with you to build your confidence, increase your ability to cope, promoting your recovery.

Contact your care co-ordinator to be referred to this service.

STR workers are there to:

  • listen, without judging
  • provide support to promote recovery to keep you in your own environment
  • have your needs at the forefront of all actions
  • assist the Community Mental Health Team Care Co-ordinator to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans
  • offer help of a practical nature, for example joining you when going out walking or cycling; starting a new hobby; getting into paid or voluntary work

For a leaflet please contact Social Services Helpdesk on 01202 633902 or Poole Community Mental Health Team at Alderney Hospital on 01202 305062, Fax 01202 718768.
